WFMW- Silver Sage Restoration Hardware Paint!

August 8, 2007 by Mommy Zabs
Filed under Works for Me Wednesday

This Works for me Wednesday I’m revealing my greatest paint secret. One I’m repetitively asked! I know, It’s not a huge secret, but people do often ask, and I’m more than happy to tell! I have never been one of those girls that cared if her friend shopped at her favorite shop or bought the same shoes. I see imitation as the greatest form of flattery so PLEASE everyone go paint your homes the same colors. I’ll feel great about myself ;)

I heart the paint color Silver Sage from Restoration Hardware! Every time I would walk into the store I loved the way I felt. The quality, the warmth, it also felt relaxing, soothing. It took me a while to realize they actually sold the color in the store. One day I noticed and began obsessing on whether or not it would work in my house… then I met my neighbor across the street.

When I walked into her home I got that “Restoration Hardware” feeling. I looked around and the furniture did not look familiar.

What was it?

The paint?

Was I really seeing the paint I had been obsessing on so long?

My neighbor confirmed it.

Not much later we sold our house and moved back to my hometown. When we closed on our house the first thing I did was schedule painters. And of course I chose all restoration hardware colors.

Main Color: Silver Sage
Accents in Main Room: Dark Silver Sage
Master: Latte
Master Bathroom: Flax
Dining Room: Mixture of Silver Sage, Dark silver Sage, and Sea Green, Striped and faux finished.
O’s Room: Atmosphere Blue
Lu’s Room + Guest Room: Sycamore Green

I did the same thing! Except in my new house I put the silver sage in the master and latte as the main color. I had always decorated the master in really dark jewel toned colors, but then I realized that I wanted that fresh, warm feeling in my bedroom. The nice thing about silver sage is just about anything looks good with it.

I Love that color Silver Sage as well, I painted my guest bath with it, and used Atmosphere blue for my dining room, all with the white accent. my next job is our bonus room with silver sage and white.Love it can’t get enough of it….

We are currently painting our second bathroom in Silver Sage. We are quite experienced painters and my husband is HATING this paint. It does not seem to want to stick to the walls (previously painted in eggshell). Has anyone else experienced this problem? We love the color, though!

What a beautiful job you did in choosing colors! What color did you paint your kitchen,as I am struggling with what to do there.
I am going to use that silver sage, love it.I cannot tell though is it more green or blue with the silver?

  21. Linda on Fri, 8th Aug 2008 7:54 am

I love silver sage and all restoration hardware colors. I am in the process of getting ready to paint. However, my house has all wood stained trim. I love these colors with white trim, Do I need to paint all the trim in the house to white?

  22. Nikki on Tue, 12th Aug 2008 10:00 am

Love the colors and you are right - it looks great with everything.
So, I just need to know if you or anyone else has painted Sea Green. I have samples on the wall, it seems a little dark. I may need to go with the Silver Sage.

Hey girl- wow, I feel honored to have been mentioned in your adorable blog. Your house looks great! Is this the newest house in TN? - Also, I absolutely love your website- how in the world do you find the time to do it? i can barely take a shower everyday and here you are with 3 kids and a fully functioning brain that does above and beyond what most mommies are capable of doing. i will be sending along your site to some friends that could really use the insight. :o)

Went to RH and bought paint today. I’m one who has always had beige colors so today I bought the silver sage and butter. Silver sage for the foyer and will most likely continue with it throughout the house. Butter for the kitchen = perhaps take border down and paint with the silver sage where border is. Do you think that would look okay or should I just stick with the butter in the kitchen? Love this paint.

is the restoration hardware paint durable and does it clean well?

  28. DD on Thu, 29th Jan 2009 9:52 pm

Hi, I am thinking about painting my media room with Restoration Hardware Flax paint. I googled the words and came across your website. You say that you have used this colour but I cannot find any photos? Could you email or post some? Thanks so much!!!

  29. Debby Brown on Mon, 9th Feb 2009 8:19 pm

I painted the foyer, main family room, hallways leading from the family room with silver sage. There is a large opening from the foyer to the dining room. I painted the dining room with Sherwin Williams “ryegrass”. I’m not sure how these two colors look together. Does anyone have any ideas?

  30. Tim on Thu, 12th Feb 2009 6:25 pm

Love your color choices. Your house is beautiful. We are looking to paint our main living area silver sage, however we do not have a Restoration hardware anywhere near us and the samples are on backorder. You would happen to have a swatch laying around that you could send me do you? I would be much appreciative.

  31. Meg on Sun, 1st Mar 2009 11:45 am

Your home is so beautiful. I feel the same way about Restoration Hardware’s paint…All of the paint colors are neutrals and go with everything. I was wondering though if someone on this blog could help me out. I have the pottery barn matine toile quilt (for my bed) in powder blue. I just recently painted our bedroom silver sage but it looks too dark. I get plenty of natural light in the day but my room isn’t very big either. We just ordered white bedroom funiture from pottery barn also and I thought I would hang some ivory drapes. I was hoping the white funiture would “pop” against this color. I feel like repainting it :( Any suggestions?

  32. mary on Mon, 16th Mar 2009 12:01 am

Be careful with silver sage paint from Restoration Hardware! Great color, I agree. It is not a consistent dye though. I bought two gallons, two years apart actually, and waited til now to use them. Big dif! Cost me several hours and $$$ to fix the variation in color. A hassle! Where is the QA? Sorry, bougie companies need to be more accountable.

  33. Lisa on Thu, 2nd Jul 2009 9:54 am

    Hi All,

I also have painted my master bedroom silver sage with white trim. The bedroom set is an espresso color and we have dark hardwood floors along with the RH Bijar Rug and RH Saxon Lamps. The problem we are having is the color of the comforter set. I was going to do all white; however, my sister thought I should do a color. Any suggestions for a color would be a great help.

    Thanks.
    Lisa
