WFMW- I Heart Label Makers!

label_20070717223237_48395.gif

This Works For Me Wednesday I’m featuring my love of label makers. I could go sickly insane labeling everything in the world if I had the time and got on a roll. I love to label. I love the idea that if we have a babysitter the will know which remote works for what. When we have family in town they will know where to put groceries. When someone is cleaning up the playroom they will know what bins get what toys. Our files look clean and professional with nicely printed labels on their tabs. There is no confusion over regular and decaffeinated coffee grinds in my house because it’s labeled!

I think it’s genetic. My dad never let us off to camp without writing our LAST NAME large on the inside collar of every shirt and every item we packed. My father and step-mother are ferociously organized. With multiple toddlers I could never keep the level of organization they do. However, I can strive and labeling is one step closer.

And yes, my husband laughs at me.

Just a few pictures (taken in less than stellar light.)

It is a little hard to see the labels in this one.

Do the labels stick to skin?
I could use one for my son. I keep calling him by the cat’s name. I’m sure it’s annoying for him to be called “Dingle.”
And maybe a few for my dh’s legs…something along the lines of “STOP SCRATCHING.” (You’ll have to go to my post from yesterday to see why!

Hmmm…..this is a blog post in itself. ;)

I’m picking up one of those today. Thanks!

Well I’m impressed to say the least…. I am so unorganized right now because we are moving and I hate living like that. The end result is great but the process…ugh I could live w/out it.

Great idea for keeping everything organized. Did you ever see the Seinfeld episode about the label maker? The labels didn’t stick on for too long… that’s the kind of label maker I had as a kid. They labels fell off of EVERYTHING. But they’ve come a long way in 20 years, I see! :)

I love my label maker too. I’ve also labeled the remotes to make life easier for our babysitters. I’ve even labeled the container that holds my coffee, which is funny because my hubby doesn’t even drink coffee.

Thanks for reassuring me that I’m not the only one with this sickness. ;-D

this is great. what does your husband think of it?

i wonder how the labels will evolve as the kids get older and are able to read. could get very interesting!

That’s some impressive label-ing! I think my DYMO labeler is one of my favorite possessions. When I first got it I labeled just about anything I could reach. Good to know I’m not alone! :)

wow Zabs - happy for you on this one. But if my wife started to do this, I’d go crazy! :)

I can never separate the darn white strip on the back. In the end the sticky part folds over on itself and I get sooo angry.

You are too funny. I’m so unorganized compared to you! LOL. I am pretty much like “if you don’t know where that goes…learn it!” LOL. Good for you!

One of the great things about moving though is the opportunity to purge things, AND find old things :)

-Please shut the toilet lid when finished.
-Please put dirty laundry in the pile so I know to clean it.
-Please put your plate in the dishwasher when finished.
    -Wednesday is Trash day!
    :) Love it!

He just laughs at me- that’s all. Yes, that will be very fun. When we were engaged our mentoring couple had little signs on everything in the kitchen so their children could learn word recognition. They were in all sorts of colors. It looked like a classroom. I thought it was so cute. If I can get past my Type A personality I would like to do that with my children when they are old enough.

We all have our things! You pretty much are in the camp with my husband.

Okay, I’m laughing right now - and not because of the post but because of one of the pictures. When we bought our fridge last year it had a container stuck in it and I didn’t know what it was for. I thought it was an ice bucket or something but it didn’t work in the freezer. I never could figure out what it went to so I just stuck it in the garage or something. Well, after looking at your pictures, it’s the same thing you have your eggs in!! Is that what that thing is supposed to be for?!?! haha!

Oh and by the way, you and Heidi Jo are crackin’ me up with those label ideas!! :)

I love my label maker also. I have not labeled as much as you have. But you have inspired me to label more!!

    YAY :)!
