Graduation Day

I can’t believe he’s actually graduating Preschool.  After much thinking and praying we have decided to send him to Kindergarten at our church’s new school.  The classes are small and the school is small.  If it were between the public school and pre-k 2 I would probably put him through another year of Preschool.  Not because I have a problem with the public schools, but his is SO crowded and I know it would just overwhelm him right now.  We have so much peace with this decision.  It is crazy though how the time has flown.  My little boy will be in school 5 days a week next year.  Crazy.  

I wonder if I will cry on his first day?  I wonder what it will be like.  Moms describe some pretty crazy emotions associated with the first day of Kindergarten.  I just don’t know if I’m more excited about the school he is going to be going to, or sad that he is growing up too fast.  I guess I will know in a few months.

Owen’s First Real Performance.

 

 

Last Thursday Owen had what they call at his preschool, a “book parade”. His book was on Noah’s Ark so his whole class had to dress up like animals. They paraded around in a circle and up on to the stage and sang their song. His was that one we learned in Sunday School when we were little, you know…

The Lord…. Told Noah…. To build him and arky arky…

I absolutely could not wait for that precious frog to get on stage so I could revel in his first ever school song performance! He walked up with his class, lined up… and then slight pushing battles began. He and a few of the other boys were all rallying for a front row spot. In the end the assistant had to pull one of the boys (a cow) backward back into line and this pushed Owen behind the line.

Yes, folks…. My little guy… the one I adored… I could not see. I’m told he was just looking around anyway. But I MISSED IT! A first. To make it worse. This week I am missing the first field trip. This also does not seem to be a big deal to the other mothers… but it is killing me. I guess I will have other opportunities to be a “room mom”. Right?

Have you seen this kids show on PBS Kids yet? My husband happened upon it a couple of weeks ago and the boys were transfixed. I know I know, TV is not exactly something we want our children transfixed on, but this one is so perfect for Owen’s age. Between the rhyming,word association, and recognition I love them watching it. Owen has already picked up so much from it.
