SUCKERS!

No, I never knew a vacuum would be so desired in my life. Never did I think my request for Christmas would be for a vacuum. If you told me 15 years ago I would wonder how my life could have ended up dull enough to want a vacuum so bad. But folks, my life is not dull. I love it. BUT, I did want a vacuum for Christmas. An Oreck to be exact.

My friend Lisa introduced me to it on fine play-date day. I was captivated by it’s power teamed with its MERE 8 LBS weight. The low profile that allowed it to slip under couches and under cabinet ledges. It seemed so easy. So much easier than mine.

I have some great vacuums so that is where the confusion came in for the Husband. My parents passed on a Rainbow to me that is absolutely excellent. But it also isn’t the type of thing I have time to pull out after every meal when the kids have totally crumified the kitchen floors. And my hoover isn’t horrible. It just really does not excel on my wood floors.

So my sweet husband took a trip to the vacuum store only to find out the top of the line of what I wanted was close to $800. Yikes. Needless to say, I was informed that it would not be a gift under the tree this year.

I did however get money from a couple of different people, and there is always ebay :)

I bid (and won!) A refurbished Oreck that looks absolutely brand new. It came today!!! You should see my floors ;) Finger lickin’ good.

Your post made me smile! I know exactly what you mean. I actually almost wrote about the same thing. We just got a Dyson and I’m in love. I tried one out a few months ago and was immediately sold. I now truly believe that a good, easy to use vacuum is a Momma’s sanity-saver!

I hate it when I want things that are really expensive…that always seems to happen to me!

But almost as frequently, God has creative ways of bringing stuff my way via incredible deals, free giveaways, etc. Not that I expect them….it’s just that often find it’s only a matter of time before I get something really cool.

I’m glad you were able to get one!

I am in the market for a new vaccum, is the Oreck better than the Dyson?

If so I would definitly have to go the route you did and get a refurbished one, lol, I could NEVER talk hubby into buying me an $800 vaccum, he would just die if I did, lol!

Cool MZ! Unlike you, I’ve always loved asking for and getting new household appliances. The best vacuum I’ve had was a Panasonic that I purchased for $100 when Tieki was born. It lasted about 15 years.

I’ve never heard of a Dyson, but have only heard good things about the Oreck. Keep me posted on how well you continue to like it. I’m (actually Ted is) currently using a middle of the line Kenmore. It works well, but nothing too special. Even though we don’t have small children, Tieki is still messy when she comes home on breaks. ;) Lol! Actually, our dogs have a pet door, and we need to vacuum regularly to keep up with them. :)

I’ve had an Oreck for 10 years. Love it! Bring it in to the dealer once a year for service, and you will not regret getting one.

I also liked what I saw about the company, in that it is an American company which seems to be run in a moral way, at least historically.
