Letter to President Elect Obama by Rich Nathan
This is an open letter to Obama that my pastor from my hometown church wrote….
“President Obama, on behalf of the Vineyard Church of Columbus, I offer our sincerest congratulations and encouragement as you assume the awesome task of providing leadership for our country and our world. As a Jewish-Christian pastor of a congregation that includes blacks and whites, Hispanics, Asians, and Native Americans, the able-bodied and the disabled, old and young, rich and poor, Republican and Democrat, we come together now to support you as our president. We pledge to pray for you. Without God’s help we cannot succeed; with God’s help we cannot fail.
The greatness of our nation will continue to be measured by our treatment of the least and the last. In our country the least and the last surely include the unborn and their mothers, immigrants, the medically uninsured, and those who still go to bed hungry in this land of abundance. Our congregation urges you to fulfill your commitment to reduce the number of abortions in our nation. Around the world, America is our brothers’ keeper of those suffering in the Darfur and the Congo. Please work on behalf of those enslaved by global sex trafficking, the billion people who live on less than $2 a day, and those who are the victims of religious persecution. As you lead, remember Jesus’ words: “As you have done to the least of these, my brethren, you have done it unto me.”
America has an extraordinary capacity to reinvent herself, rarely more so than in this election. We remain the screen upon which the world projects its greatest hopes and its most noble aspirations. Live a life worthy of our hopes. Be a reconciler. Be a peacemaker. May God bless you and your family. And may America bless God and the world.”
Well Well Well
I took a little break yesterday. I needed it. Am I doing alright? Yes. I pretty much knew that Obama winning would be the outcome, but I suppose part of me held out hope McCain would. My friend assures me he will govern from the middle. I hope he is right.
The thing that I dislike the most is the liberal trinity aspect. Pelosi, Reed, and Obama ruling this nation. Do my friends that voted Democratic realize that Pelosi defended a homosexual orgy depicting the last supper as an ad for the controversial San Francisco street fair? Oh well. Do they realize that abortion isn’t passe issue and that Obama will most likely choose 2 to 3 supreme court judges? Ah well. What is done is done and the Lord’s hand is in it. I still serve him above all.
Because it’s good to say something positive… it is quite a landmark in our history that we have a 1/2 African American president. To think of all the ground covered since the 50s! My question… Should there be affirmative action anymore when we have progressed this far? Food for thought.
Either way I keep living my life. I’ll probably watch the news less than I did during this almost 2 year campaigning season. I’m very interested to see what this ride will be like and what history will show was the right way to go. I hope I’m very wrong about Obama. I hope my friends who are his fans are right. After all, country first.
Vote 2008
So far I don’t have anything to say today. I’m left somewhat speechless now that this day has finally approached. Possibly because I know most minds are made up. We’ll all vote our conscience. Then we’ll see what happens. Then regardless, I and many of you should and will trust in the Lord regardless. At least I’ll be getting free Starbucks.

Trick or Treat and Life in General
Well…. We did go trick or treating, but my battery was dead, hence no pictures. So Jenn, Pam, Peggy, Jodi… please send me any and all
We had a blast and went in a whole pack of kids. Our neighborhood is prime trick or treating because of the closeness of the houses and vast number of children. We started the night on our street. Most of the streets had what is called a “cider home” that would have cider, drinks, chili, and snacks. That was great.
People in this neighborhood go all out. Many of the homes were decorated like they would be for Christmas, but with orange lights, webs, and spiders. Some were a little scary for my taste, but most were just cutesie and fun.
After the kids’ bags were so full they could hardly carry them we ended up with incredible chill time at my friend Peggy’s house. She was so generous to open her house up last minute. The kids’ played upstairs and the adults hung downstairs just having great chats and bonding
Trick or treat was a lot of fun for all involved.
Yesterday church was amazing. My friends Peggy and Ian are going with us now and we love that. My friend Jenn came along this Sunday and liked it. The message was all about how the Kingdom of God is not an earthly one, not tangible, but the Israelites were looking for that. He compared it to how we are looking for that in our political system, that we have to remember regardless of the outcome we have an intangible kingdom that can not be shaken. That maybe even if Obama wins it will actually energize his people to pray and seek out rivival instead of sitting back and doing nothing like the religious right did during the Bush administration. He said regardless of who is president our call is the same.
This wasn’t used during the sermon but in Psalm 146:3 it says, “Do not put your trust in princes, in mortal men, who cannot save.” I cling to this verse right now. The fact is you have not seen on this blog a ton of McCain excitement. Not that I don’t like McCain, I do… but this time around I don’t think all in the Christian world will be right if he is on the “throne” (so to speak)…. But I do think a lot will be wrong if Obama is. But either way it should not shake our resolve. We trust in a supernatural authority of our Lord God Creator of all. I do think that Obama’s policies will not be good for the health of our country and I feel they are in direct contrast to how our fore-fathers set up our government and authorities. I think if he does all he says he will that our nation (after a few years) will see some pretty depressing times that make the times we are in now look like the “good ole days”. But regardless, we will serve the Lord. In good times and bad times. I’m so thankful to have more than our President and Congress to trust in.
Ecclesiastes 7:14- “When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider: God has made the one as well as the other. Therefore, a man cannot discover anything about his future.
That’s all I got for today.

Pumpkin Carving
Last night we carved pumpkins. JJ really impressed me with his mad skills
But I knew he would be great at this. Owen watched intently through every pumpkin! Lukas just watched TV. The pumpkins seemed to scare him even before they were carved. (click pictures to see more than the thumbnail)
Franklin Pumpkin Fest!
Last weekend we had a crazy Saturday. It started with a soccer game, then lunch, then the Franklin Pumpkin Festival, and then a Pumpkin Festival in our neighborhood. Needless, to say we wiped the boys out. Here are some pics from the festival. The other little boy with my boys is their sweet friend Andon. (click pictures to see more than the thumbnail.)

Apparently We Can’t Stomach Real Journalism Anymore.
Some of you may have seen the interview Biden gave to an Orlando Station/ Barbara West. Because she asked him about Barack Obama’s “spreading the wealth” sounding like Marxism they decided to ban the station from interviews. I guess Obama and Biden are just too used to being coddled by the MSM (minus Fox).
