New Comment Format!

I just want to let you all know that after much back and forth in my own mind (gosh my mind can be such a scary place!) I have decided to reply to comments within the actual comment in bold as opposed to catching up on what has been written and doing a fat comment in reply.
My dad has been doing it and I have noticed it elsewhere. I decided I liked the idea because it was less up and down reading to follow conversation. I just implemented it and found it to be a HUGE time saver. I will take all the time savers in blogging I can get!
That being said I’m not sure if that will show up in Comment RSS feeds or not. I’m guessing that it won’t (Jordan do you know?) If you are a reader that likes to subscribe to comments please be aware of this. For email post subscribers I don’t think it will show up for you either.
If you have no clue about subscribing via RSS feed, and you have found reading blogs to be something you like, you HAVE to start doing it and save your precious time. It will notify you every time one of your favorite blogs post so that you do not waste time checking only to find nothing new is posted. You can do these through MANY formats. I use Google Reader . (I recently switched). I have a link on my side bar that says SUBSCRIBE, you can use that. Also if you like to see comments to a post you are interested in there are orange squares under the post that you can click to subscribe.

I don’t think it will show up :\ , but I never mess with comment feeds. Have you tried subscribing to your dad’s comment feed?
I’ve seen that done in a few places, but the fat reply comment is what I see more often. I know that Chris Garrett at http://www.chrisg.com just wrote about a plugin that lets you mass reply to all your comments; maybe that would work for you, too?
I’ll check out that plugin today- I’m curious! Thanks for your help!

Zabs,
You already run your feed through feedburner - that’s great. Click on the optimize tab and select feed flare. Then select “comments count” on the feed.
This will show how many comments have been made on a post in your feed reader and by clicking on it, will take you directly to the comments sections.
I assume I am in your google reader? Check out my feed to see what I am talking about. Make sure though, you have subscribed to me orange button feed (which is feedburner) and not my default feed.
Thanks LG. What I meant was editing the comment like this for reply. So that doesn’t register as an un-read comment if it is on a reader. Know what I mean? And yes of course you are on my google reader
I should have a comment counter on my feed, do you see it?

No, it doesn’t register.
I always check posts that I’ve commented on through “my comments” on wordpress and then I have also set up an account with co comment to check comments. It doesn’t register on either one. The only way someone will see what you’ve said is if someone else comments after so that it will send it to “my comments” or whatever you’re using or if you manually go back and check the post for comments.

Can’t help you on the feeds, but I will comment on your commenting.
I’ve been doing it this way for a couple of weeks now and I LOVE it. Before then I was responding to everyone individually, and some people were asking the same questions. (Like on my Crocs post I had so many people ask “are the comfortable?” It’s easier to just answer the first person so the rest know!)
Anyway…just wanted to add that I like it. I’m going to ask my readers here soon if it’s working for them…i.e. do they remember to come back and see my reply.
