Well. For many reasons I’m just not going to write for awhile. Maybe forever? (though knowing me I doubt that). I’m not going to take MommyZabs down because I have used it as a family journal for so long that I would hate to lose that. The primary reason for closing is being busy… But in addition to that I’m really truly saddened and sickened by the state of the country right now. I don’t like where we are going as a nation in so many ways and this is no longer a “safe” place to vent. Not because people are after me or anything
But because too many of my friends and I disagree and because they continue reading and it has effected our relationship… I don’t feel comfortable posting my thoughts anymore.
In addition to that I’m sure most of you have heard about the white house’s new call to rat on your neighbors for spreading SO CALLED “mis-information” about the “health care option” they are trying to pass. Because I feel that many of the things going around from educated sources is NOT mis-information and because I see this as a move toward one health care government run system and not simply an option… I would therefore become a “mis-information” source. Truth telling has never been so censored.
So I’m out for awhile. I’m too angry and depressed about this country to write.
I’m sure at some point I’ll be back.
The 5th anniversary party I was planning on holding for the blog with giveaways is cancelled. Maybe I’ll start writing again on the 10th anniversary, if the country hasn’t gone communist by then.

I SO get it, girl…
I’ve had to stop blogging about political things, because just thinking about everything is stressful, disturbing, frustrating, anxiety-producing, infuriating, ect…
The move to ask people to rat out those that disagree with Obama (which is exactly what they want, even though they don’t come right out and say it…) well, that is crazy. I almost can’t even believe it is happening in our country, yet there it is.
Hope you’ll find your way back soon. Remember, you don’t HAVE to blog about political things!

I agree with Missy. Two things you stay away from: religion and politics. At least that’s what they say.

Oh no, I hate to see your blog go. You are one of the (very) few bloggers I read that is as conservative as me. I have to nearly sit on my hands to stay off the topic of politics on my blog and to not comment on others who think Obama is the second coming. Thank God for people like Glenn Beck who let me know I am not alone in my fears. Hopefully you will come back sometime soon.

Just read this over at Michelle Malkin’s blog and thought of you.
“I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration somehow you’re not patriotic. We should stand up and say we are Americans and we have a right to debate and disagree with any administration.”
Hillary Clinton, 2003

Wow E, I don’t think you should stop writing because of this.. At this point, I think it’s more important than EVER BEFORE to write about the truth… And also, if your friends don’t agree in your blog then how can you talk with them in person? I know you’ve thought of all this but I just wanted to be “real” with you. I love your writing and I know you enjoy writing as well. Please don’t let them beat you…
Love you-Misi

start printing up some “Republican again in 2010″ t-shirts and we’ll all start wearing them now. Seriously.

To Missy and Kyle: while thats true in the workplace and areas where you’re not sure who’s with who and what’s what then yes, religion and politics are a BIG no-no. But,and it’s a big but; if you are in church and you know that your fellow friends are believers why wouldn’t you discuss religion? In fact, you would and do..
The same holds true w/ politics. And, I think since this is E’s blog she should be able to write whatever she wants, when she wants to.. It’s as though she’s being run off for having an opinion that differs from the majority and I don’t think anyone should hold back from what they believe in when it’s their “safe-place” i.e. “Blogs”.
So, that’s my seriously way too long comment but I’m passionate about this one.
E- Your blog has and will always rock. You always mix up the topics, your honest, passionate, loving and even when disagreed with you are still kind and gentle in response. I love your blog and you inspired me to start blogging! Plus I’ve learned so much about politics from you!! Imagine how many other’s you’ve inspired and encouraged!! It’s your gift girl.
Hey! I have an idea… Start a new blog just for politics and keep your identity Anon. And only inform your friends who are with you 100% in politics know the URL and then you’ll still have traffic but they won’t know the author IRL so not as much pressure on you.
Don’t give up!!!

Gotta warn you E, my response might be long….
Ultimately you need to do what you believe it right. I am so sorry that your friendships have suffered because of differing political views (apparently, some of mine have as well). I would encourage (if not challenge) you to consider this: our founders did not believe that religion and politics were taboo subjects, nor did they believe in creating political frameworks devoid of religious influence. They believed, as John Adams said, that politics was the “divine science”. Their convictions formed the basis for morality, ethics and integrity, without which, any government (and nation) will decay and collapse. They researched history - consulted Cicero and specifically referenced the advice Jethro gave Moses in structuring the government of Israel (notice how the authority was at a local level?). Their beliefs in Scripture were part of the foundation of a three part government - since Christ was their (most of them, at least) law-giver, king and judge. They knew very well that the kind of liberty they were embarking into would never work if the people ceased to be moral and religious. Their religious views informed their political ones - in realizing that man was flawed (fallen), they guarded against the consolidation of power, since they intimately knew the pain and misery of concentrated power in the hands of sinful man. Their grand experiment paved the way for the largest growth in technology, medicine, standard of living, innovation and migration that human history had EVER seen. When our nation began, we were still using the same style tools humans had used for thousands of years….and today you and I are sending text back and forth via comments stored in some database on a server they could have never imagined. We’ve been to the moon. We’ve sent spacecraft beyond the 9 (make that
planets. We can correct heart defects in newborn children that would’ve died in our founder’s day (heck, in our parents’ day). The point is, NONE of that would have been possible if our founders had bought into the myth that you can’t discuss religion or politics with friends (or foes), or that you shouldn’t challenge the abuses of power in your day. Christians today are tragically un-informed, co-opted and/or afraid. We don’ know our history, and how the power of the gospel influenced it and set our land to be a beacon of hope for millions around the world for the last 4 centuries. We don’t know how to explain or defend the ideas of Christianity beyond protest and voting. We’ve been co-opted by the political right - who tells us they’re like us, when they’re simply pandering for votes (meanwhile they run to Argentina to meet their mistress)….and by the left who tells us we must care for the sick and poor by giving them the means to consolidate power and abolish our republic, when the command was for US to care for those in need, not for us to outsource it to a group of collectivists adhering to a worldview (Progressivism) that’s a sister to Fascism, Bolshevism and Socialism. And we’re afraid to speak up because we know it shouldn’t be like this…and we don’t want to become targets of ridicule, misunderstanding or worse. We’d rather flip on Seinfeld re-runs and pretend that voting for president every 4 years is enough. We have OUR dreams and OUR careers - everyone else is trying to pretend we can continue on “status quo”, why can’t we? From what I’ve read of your blog, you know already why we can’t: We’re not of the spirit of apathy and dissipation; We will be held to account for how we lived in these times; And the false and destructive worldviews seeking to dominate our nation are lies intended to undo every bit of blessing or nation was meant to be to the world - and will eventually led to the crushing of the human spirit in those who live here, and the tragic forgetting of the power of what once made us truly free and truly a blessing. We need people like YOU to help shake us out of our stupor and selfishness. We need our ideas challenged. We need someone to stand up and say “Wait, this may be popular, but there are serious concerns…” (our culture needs it as bad as the church does). So, PLEASE, don’t sign off entirely. Take the time you need to figure out the right way to proceed, but use the gifts you have been given….
