MomDot Blog Party Day 8- Black Friday

Do you shop on Black Friday?  What time do you start?  Do you finish all your shopping on that day?  What’s the best deal you have found?  What’s your shopping strategy?

No, normally I don’t touch black Friday.  I hate getting up early, I hate crowded stores and long lines.  Black Friday is definitely not my style.  HOWEVER, this year is different.   I go to bed and wake up earlier than ever before… so waking a couple hours earlier won’t kill me.  I want the sales bad enough this year.  I will probably hit up Toys R Us first then head to Target.  I’m not sure what the deals are those days yet, but I’m definitely going for it.

I doubt I will finish all my shopping on that day but who knows?  Best deal?  Wouldn’t know since this will be my first year getting up early.

Shopping Strategy?  Get up when Toys R Us opens.

i have been to black friday sales before but i never truly experienced it until last year. i had no idea that people would line up starting up a 3pm on thanksgiving day to be first in line friday morning at best buy but believe it or not they do.

last year we got to circuit city around 6pm and waited all night to get my brother in law a laptop for christmas. i have to say he was so thankful and felt so loved, it definitely made it worth it all. it was actually fun sitting out there with blankets, making new friends. my inlaws brought us leftovers! it was very cold though!!!!

i don’t think we’ll be going to that extreme this year but i bet other people will so you if you are going for one of the doorbusters or really popular items you may want to consider getting there super early - or try to talk jeff into camping out with another guy for you. :)

here’s a website i found that has all the black friday sales posted AND some stores are doing big sales early starting now too. this is a great resource for bargain hunters!! i love love a good bargain!

Definitely go check out the sales posted on the Black Friday sites! I saw the Kmart has the few things I want much cheaper than Toys R Us. I’m glad to have a fellow shopper this year! It seems that none of the other moms are going out.

I’m skipping out on the crowds this year! I prefer to do it online in my nice, warm home, lol!

If this is your first year and especially if you are hitting Toys R Us and Target, take someone with you to stand in line. My MIL and I will split up- one of us stands in line and the other takes both lists and gets the items. That way you don’t waste time in the lines before you can move on to the next store. Have fun!

Hubs and I are formulating a strategy right now! We’ve NEVER gone together, and I NEVER thought he’d agree, but I showed him some INCREDIBLE deals at bfads.net, and he’s going! Yay! We’ll probably go to two different stores, so that we can each grab the stuff we want, pay for it, then whoever has the car will pick the other up.

    Ugh. Still dreading it, though.

Black Friday is no longer my cup of tea. If I see something that I want, I send my hubby for it and stay home with the kids:)
