Hygiene Deficient Pregnant Woman- HELP!
I just showered. For the first time in days. No Joke. I really am not sure when the last day I showered was. Fortunately I don’t ooze body oder easily. But seriously, what is it about being pregnant that makes me so hygiene deficient? Does anyone else experience this? I hardly want to spend a moment on myself.
Maybe it all stems from not liking my body when I’m pregnant? I know, I know, the hip thing is to at least pretend you love your pregnant body and wear it proud… but it is always a strange thing for me to see myself this shape. I actually get compliments, but I don’t see it. My husband loves it, but I still don’t see it. Maybe that makes me want to be frumpy?
I never wanted to be one of those women that let themselves go. And I don’t think I’m quite there, yet. How do I stop from starting to slide down that slippery slope. I suppose I should go easier on myself and only worry if it continues after pregnancy. Please tell me someone out there relates to all of this.

would it help you to know that sometimes i don’t shower for days and i am NOT pregnant! ok, ok, so one of those days usually falls on a day i don’t work, but still!!
and i have a feeling from the few pics i have seen, that you have a cute pregnant-momma body! you want to talk pregnant hips, come to texas!
wow! congrats elizabeth! it’s been a while, hope you are well!
cut yourself some slack mama! your taking care of 2 kids, a house, a hubbie and growing a new baby!!!
i would worry if it continues after the pregancy but for now i declare: you are fine!:)
Even after nearly a year of being a mama, there are still days when I just don’t feel I have the time for a proper shower. As long as my hair looks decent and there are no inappropriate smells, I’m satisfied with just moisturizing my face as a daily “beauty routine.”
This attitude is also extending to my little guy, as I will often say to myself “we can get just one more day before he needs a full-on bath.”
Don’t be too hard on yourself. I felt the same way when I was pregnant! Some days I felt good if I got my teeth brushed by 4pm!
And you are not the only one what struggles with the pregnancy body image…I totally did not take a liking to the changes.
Things do get better - I promise! Soon enough you will take showers just because it is the only place where you can be by yourself and think!
I remember how it was also for me during pregnancy, sometimes it was too much effort to take a shower every day.
I agree with the others! I’m not pregnant and taking a shower can sometimes be the ultimate chore. It usually happens on my first day off after working the whole week. My husband is borderline obsessive about hygiene, and always buys baby wipes! It’s a habit he picked up in the military (I think!). So I find them very useful for freshening up on days that I can’t do the shower thing.
