Why I Heart Huckabee
Filed Under Current Events, Featured, Politics, Social Action, Video, news | 7 Comments
You may have noticed that toward the bottom of my sidebar I made a little I heart Huckabee button. Yes, my official endorsement for both the republican nominee. Risky for a girl with a mixed political readership? Perhaps. But hopefully you don’t just read me for my politics
If I could take 8 minutes of your time this video should explain pretty well why I love Mike Huckabee. Many of the main issues I care about our touched on. To get further information on any of the topics you may have questions about (such as “fair tax”,) Feel free to click my I heart Huckabee button and learn more. Sit back, relax, and enjoy this video.

Sidebar Additions
Filed Under Music, Video | 7 Comments
First I want to highlight some ‘useful links’ and ‘news’ I have put on my sidebar. Many are the same links I had on my previous blog. But an addition is a link to sermons from my church. Enjoy if you wish. Also Wikipedia is a source I constantly draw from for information. Especially since I did horrible in history class while in school! If for some odd reason you have never heard of it, it is basically an online Encyclopedia that is constantly being updated. And because it can constantly grow without worrying about printing costs and the size of the collection you will find more there than any encyclopedia! My brother is even in it. You could wikipedia people you know to see if they are in it!
You never know!
There is a link to BIBLE GATEWAY I highly recommend for looking up scriptures both by passage and topically. You can do so in any version. I *think* I have mentioned this before?
To the left I have featured some music and one video from Music Christian (dot) com. I promise I will never ever put anything I don’t love or belive in on my page. If you see it you have 100% garuntee it is something I have done very intentionally. I will change what is up there from time to time based on mood, or album release, book release etc.
The first featured is Praise Baby Collection. It is a great gift for anyone who is pregnant! Also excellent for those with babies. My son Owen LOVED these (still does even though he is older). I would put him in his bouncer in front of them while I was cooking dinner. It was so nice to have worship playing in the house accociated with images he loved to watch. I also would put it on if he was having a fit and I couldn’t seem to calm him. It almost never failed! Worship seems to calm these little ones.
The other 3 are cd’s I love.
The Fray is a band in mainstream music… but they love Jesus and their lyrics contains many themes about chuch, community, heartbreak, and walking out the Christian life. Very good stuff.
The Jeremy Camp cd Stay has touched my life so many times. I don’t know how many of you have heard of him or know anything about his story. He wrote this cd after losing his young wife. They were married young and she was diagnosed with cancer. They didn’t have long together. This cd contains many songs that are working it out with God, giving god his pain in the midst of incredible sorrow. I have cried to this cd and cried out to God. It helps me to put my pain in the right perspective and depend on God to carry me through.
Mat Kearney is an old friend of JJ’s and mine. He was around when we met and witnessed “us” becoming an “us”. He is special to our hearts. He also happens to be a great song-writer! He has a really smoothe soothing voice and mainstream radio has realized that. He can be heard on stations everywhere and has recently been on tours with Sheryl Crow and John Mayer. He is a great guy that loves the Lord and is gaining recognition in an area where I would say he is a minority.
If you are interested in learning any more on those CD’s/Video you can click that link (no i don’t make money on the click, only a small percentage on a sale :)) And you can either buy it there or look elsewhere online or in your local store. All 3 of the cd’s should be found most places. The dvd may be at your local Christian bookstore, but other than that you will have to find it online.
Enjoy! Hopefully I can turn you onto new things you will love. If you are ever offended by any product I place on my sidebar please tell me. They don’t contain the same disclaimer my blogroll does. I will definitely take something down if you find reasonable issues with them.

It’s Potty Time!
Filed Under Children, Entertainment, Family, Motherhood, Video | 17 Comments
What a day!
The big tasks today were getting my site running and working through glitches and potty-training Owen.
Yesterday Owen had his 3 year old well-child appointment. He’s 39 1/4 inches and 37 lbs. 90 percentile on both. He’s rather healthy (thank you Lord). Good lungs. Good blood-pressure. Nice teeth
. The area we weren’t so hot in? Potty-training (no surprise there!) The doctor had a really good talk with him about it and gave me some really great articles on it. I explained to her how confused I was about all the potty-training advise that is out there! I felt guilty about the idea of “making him go” but knew this was a total power-struggle.
She explained that Owen comprehends perfectly what is going on and is ready for a “bare bottom treatment” where I take time off and go nowhere, take his pants off and let him learn. I told her that I had heard that would make him have problems later. She explained that those studies are more indications for children that are training at force at a younger age, and the fact that he did it once and was excited about it was more of an indication that he knows what is going on.
SO! We did it today. I took his diaper off this morning and wouldn’t put it back on. He had a COMPLETE fit! I should have timed it, but didn’t. It SEEMED like forever! finally he gave in and played trains with Lukas. He didn’t go until after Lunch but he did it! Then he got “potty-fever!” He wanted to go over and over! I think I have spent about as much time in the bathroom today as I do when I’m pregnant (and throwing up). Maybe more!
After today’s festivities I took a little interview of the little-big-boy for my blog. Enjoy ![]()
On an unrelated note, my mother-in-law will be coming in town on Friday until Thursday. She called to let us know yesterday and we are really exited. It is always so nice to have JJ’s parents here. We are truly blessed by both of our parents. I know so many friends who have less than idea in-law situations and I can honestly say that every in-law I have is a blessing to my life. They are truly family to me.

Some Some Summer-time!
Filed Under Children, Entertainment, Family, Iraq War, Photos, Trials & Tribs, Uncategorized, Video, Weather | 12 Comments
Days at the pool, nights on the patio, dinners outside, parks, zoos, car-trips, family, sunshine, bike-rides, long-walks, less TV, flowers, trees, red cheeks, highlights, swingsets, driveway play-time, basketball hoops, beaches, long days, BBQ, sidewalk chalk, spinklers, water fights, blowing bubbles, laying out, pony-tails, naked face, endless smiles on my childrens’ faces, boating, popcicles, ice cream sandwiches, cook-outs, laughter, fresh-cut lawn, lush green grass, flip flops, tank tops….
What words resonate summer to you?
In honor of my official “summer is launching” weekend (yes, this is a holiday in my very own mind) I played with imovie and tried to make a little slide show. I have a lot to learn. I have already spent two times as much time on this as I really budgeted for tonight, oh well.
I wish the picture quality transferred better, and I wish I knew how to do a lot more… but It’s always fun to post your first try and laugh at it a year or two later when you are so much better at it
Anyway, Laugh, Enjoy.

in other news… the boys seem to really be either loving eachother physcially or beating each other physically at all times. Fortunately, I was able to catch a couple of the loving time on camera. I almost missed it. I was cleaning up, JJ was on his computer, and just several feet away they were doing this… all on their own.
In other news… It’s Memorial Day.
For all those who have given their lives, who have been willing to give their lives, and who have lost loved ones fighting for our country in one capacity or another. May we never forget you or belittle the sacrafice you have made. And may all the troops now serving be brought home safely at the right time. You are in my prayers… and no doubt the prayers of many others.

War on the View

Oh Boy!
I can not even remember the last time I watched the view… but I just saw this video over on Hot Air, and I am not sure I have seen anything like it on the daily talk shows since that creep Parsons (who claimed to killing Jon Benet) on That one show (don’t even remember the name?) or maybe back to Geraldo getting his nose broken! Looks like the 2 are getting super real with each other since Rosie is on her way out anyway. Check it out.

Oh? How do you really feel?
Filed Under Children, Entertainment, Family, Motherhood, Photos, Video | 6 Comments
I apologize for my silly “bad day rant” below. It doesn’t even read well. I should have just posted this and you would have understood.

In all seriousness though. I’m fine now and in retrospect it wasn’t that bad of a day. There were just moments of complete chaos here and there that made me wonder if being commited was an option. They were brief moments, and they are over for now.
This video of the boys playing from a few weeks ago cheered me up. Please ignore the mess in my house while viewing. I have surrendered to not cleaning up their messes until they go to bed these days.

Video A BEE C’s
Filed Under Children, Entertainment, Family, Video | 3 Comments
My dad blogged awhile back on the dying off of honey bees. It seems my little ones found their own little dead bee, a bumble bee. I was clueless as you can see from the video. I barely got up to the fort in time to keep it from becoming a part of Lukies Diet.

And in case you would like to see an almost 3-year-old sing the ABC’s.

Owen wants a Hug
Filed Under Children, Christianity, Entertainment, Family, Motherhood, Video | 10 Comments
Owen is just like his mom. And sometimes when you have a personality that combines the extreme need of affirmation, intensely sensitive feelings, and the tenacity…. you end up doing interesting things… that is until your grown up and figure how to balance it out… as I’m sure I have mastered, right? Yeah.
I remember being young and thinking the best solution to not having my friends go home when it was there dinner time was to lock them in our basement playroom. This happened on many occasions. I also recall not letting some of my friends go home until they asked “Jesus into their heart” YIKES! That is scary and surely not what Jesus would want us to do. However, I was young andthought I was doing the right thing. I totally missed the point that whether it is love for us or for God, it is intended to be out of free-will. Otherwise, it is shallow and fake.
Most us grow up and learned that forced love does not work. The other half probably either grow up trying to buy love the rest of there lives, or become sociopaths! We’ll just have to point Owen in the direction of learning:
1. you don’t always get what you want.
2. you can’t control other people.
and
3. the best kind of love is given voluntarily.
Anyway here’s a sample of this little personality at work in our house.
