Christmas Hoopla Meme
Filed Under Christianity, Family, Holidays | 5 Comments
I was just tagged by Stacey for this MEME and because it is Christmas related and I have little content to give you I thought I’d do it!
These are the rules (some of which I will just barely squeak around).
1. List 12 random things about yourself that have to do with Christmas
2. Please refer to it as a ‘hoopla’ and not the dreaded ‘m’-word
3. You have to specifically tag people when you’re done. None of this “if you’re reading this, consider yourself tagged” stuff is allowed…then nobody ends up actually doing it. The number of people who you tag is really up to you — but the more, the merrier to get this ‘hoopla’ circulating through the blogosphere.
4. Please try and do it as quickly as possible. The Christmas season will be over before we know it and I’d like to get as many people involved as possible.

Help! Mom! The 9th Circuit Nabbed the Nativity!
Filed Under Books, Children, Holidays, Politics | 6 Comments
Last week I reviewed the first in a series of three books from the Help! Mom! collection by Katherine DeBrecht and Kid’s Ahead Publishing, Help! Mom! There are Liberals Under My Bed!.
The second in this children’s series, Help! Mom! The 9th Circuit Nabbed the Nativity festively tells the story a Politically Correct Christmas Winter Holiday!
Don’t be fooled by this book’s less offensive title. It possesses the same sting of reality, only this time the activist judges, the ACLU, and all other agendas dedicated to banishing God from society are the target. Through the story of two boys who lose their Christmas program at the hand of these organizations, your children will learn that the constitution grants us freedom of religion, not from religion.
Caricatures of “Al Snore” and “Hillary Clunkton” will have you laughing your right-wing off. Katherine DeBrecht nails it! She reduces important issues down to a simple yet entertaining way that your child will grasp. This should be a must-read during the holiday CHRISTMAS season.

Letter to Owen on His 3rd Birthday
Filed Under Children, Family, Holidays, Motherhood, Photos | 12 Comments
(This is actually a day early for 2 reasons. One, tomorrow is my day off the internet, and two he is in a wedding this weekend so we are pretending his birthday is today!)

Dear Sweet Owen,
Three years ago you single-handedly changed our world. Our priorities found new order. Our idea of a perfect weekend changed.
When those who delivered you first saw you they reacted with great surprise. With my size they had expected nothing more than a seven pounder and you came out at a large nine pounds, eleven ounces! You looked 12 weeks old! Your eyes were bright and alert.
Ever since that moment you have been full of surprises. We never know what is going to come out of your mouth next… or where you pick up these words, sentences, and concepts. You never cease to amaze us.
Your drama never ends. Sometimes we wish we could escape in your little world, it looks so fun! You make us remember what it was like to be little and find simple joy out of a blanket over a chair and calling it a fort. Dragons and Sharks are around every corner in your world. Your world amazes us.
After the delievery room staff commented on your size they made comments about booming temper. Yes, little one you could scream, and you still can. Your passion and strong-will came with a quick temper. That same passion and will, correctly directed and added to the right heart could change the world. Your temper will have to be met with self-control. We hope and pray that we can help point you in that direction.
In the last few weeks you have learned to be the most amazing big brother. Yes, sometimes you just haul off and hit Lukas, or push him over for no reason. But more often you have wanted him to play with you, or shown him how to do things. You beg to pray for him every nap-time and every night time. Your often trying to make him laugh. Your dad and I never had a sibling that close to our age so we watch the two of you in amazement.
You are one-of-a-kind Owen and we pray that never changes. Your first name means mighty warrior. Your middle name means God’s peace. May you find the balance between the two all through your life.
We love you so much.
This is going to be a great year.

Good Friday & Banner Issues!
Filed Under Blogging, Boycott, Holidays | Leave a Comment
hello! Happy Good Friday. The thing that makes Good Friday Good is the Easter part. Where Jesus kicked Satan’s but and rose from the dead. Thanks really isn’t enough.
On a nothing compared to that note…. I have been playing with my banner. I tried to upgrade to a blogger2 template…. but couldn’t figure out how to keep a custom banner on it? Anyone know? Pretty annoyed about it.

We are a sick house.
Filed Under Entertainment, Family, Holidays, Trials & Tribs | 4 Comments
Last I updated you on the sickies in this house was that Owen had contracted a bad cold. It has been 8 days now and he’s gone from bad to awful. There was some hope maybe he was getting better… but then last night he had us up crying and moaning and saying his ear hurts, which means a dreaded ear infection. To top it off Lukas is going on his 4th day of the said awful cold
So today after being in all week, cancelling gym plans, cancelling lunches with friends, and everything else planned, I am finally taking them to the dr.
Tonight we had plans to go out with 2 of my best friends I have known since I was 7 and their husbands for my birday. We’ll have to see if we have to cancel or not. It was going to be fun to be out with these guys with out our 7 kids between us in tow. We were going to pretend we were really fun, cool, adults that have wonderful social lives for the night
But the kids obviously come first, so we’ll see.

HAPPY VDAY
Filed Under Entertainment, Family, Holidays, Weather | 3 Comments
This is one of my favorite holidays!!! Largely because the overall pink and redness of it all and the heart shapes everywhere. I guess that makes me a girlie girl…:) As you can see from this picture, we are pretty much snowed in. I was having 2 friends over today with thier kiddos and the little ones were going to decorate heart shaped cookies! Like a little vday party! Postponed till tomorrow!
The boys each got a book, a cars sippy cup, and a tiny winnie the pooh box of chocolates. I awoke to a dozen roses, chocolates, and a ipod SHUFFLE. My husband knows my general clutziness causes me to always drop my other ipod at the gym! Smart guy
I got him shoes I thought he wanted ![]()

Off my Hiatus- I think.
Filed Under Entertainment, Family, Holidays, Recap | 9 Comments
Hello. I miss my blog friends so much! I just haven’t felt like blogging, and part of that could be the serious time deprivation. Much has happened since my last post- nothing dramatic really, just life in general. I still can’t see on my RSS when you, my friends, post so that has made it really hard to read blogs at all (for someone with little time). Anyway. I’m trying to blog tonight while sitting here watching a movie with my man.
So Big updates. I got a tatoo to surprise Jeff. Not simply to surprise him, but because i wanted it as well. It is his name (like he has mine) on my wrist but mine curls around to the front with a dove. The dove represents “god’s peace, because that is waht his name means, and he is full of peace. Anyway, here are some shotty phone pics from after it first was done. I’m hoping to get nicer ones taken soon since is is healed.
Thanksgiving, we went to Springfield for 10 days to spend it with Jeff’s family.
That was great.
For Christmas everyone came here. We had 11 visitors! It was a packed house (Jeff’s parents, sisters family, and brother in laws parents!) It made for good memories. It was pretty nice to have all my extended family (dad’s side and most of mothers’) Jeff’s entire family and even his sisters in-laws all under one roof on Christmas eve. I don’t know that a lot of families could do that so I feel blessed.
Yesterday we celebrated Lukas’s first birthday. I’m pretty amazed that a year has gone by. Things are moving so quickly. We had a “small” birthday party with “some” family and a 2 friends families. Seriously though, if my family is involved it is rarely small. For the next several they will all be tiny, but I figured this is his 1st and I wanted to have a celebration. Today we went and took 1 year old photos and Owen got so jealous. I had owen get in some of the pics and ended up with one I love of the 2 of them.
And Lukie’s One year old picture ![]()

So Life will be pretty much normal for a couple weeks and then we are off to see my parents in Florida for 10 days (we are going to escape up to orlando to visit my grandpa and see some old friends too!) Then we will be back foa a day then head to Colorado for 5 days to snowboard. THEN maybe we will have some normal life for a bit
I’m really looking forward to 2007. I look forward to really feeling myself… without being pregnant or having a to be a food source. I look forward to enjoying the boys as they grow and having dates with my husband. I look forward to lots of mornings at the gym, learning more about who God made me to be and how to live that out daily. I look forward to building stronger relationships and growing in maturity. I look forward to being free of things that have held me in the past. Gradually losing bad habits like my obsessivenss. Looking further into why sometimes I’m so sad for no reason, and why sometimes old wounds still hurt so much. And hopefully moving on from there in healing. I look forward to growing my hair out. I think I’m going to commit to not chopping it this year
But only getting trims every few months (there’s a deep one)… I look forward to seeing of Lukas will ever grow hair
I look forward to more memories with friends and family… finding new hobbies… breaking out my sewing machine againl, getting the garage organized, learning more recipes and having people over for dinner more. I look forward to getting into old jeans (some say my hips will eventually retract some more right!?)
That’s it for now. I think this is going to be a good year. For some reason I just have a lot of peace about it. Maybe that just because I have a dove tatood on my wrist now… ha!

Halloween Walk
Filed Under Entertainment, Family, Holidays | 7 Comments
Over the weekend we went with a couple of my oldest friends (we have been friends since we were 7!) to a local town’s halloween walk. It was fun to get the kids all dressed up and take them out together. All the pics are Here, but these are a few of my favorites.
