My brother-in-law deploys to Kuwait today. A sweet piece was written by a comrade of his.

Since arriving to support the 3rd Infantry Division’s mission to Iraq, only one Soldier I know has worked harder than I to try and secure a mission to the mideast. That man is my friend CPT Tim Hayes. This might come as a surprise to the CBB reader, but in the Army, sometimes getting deployed is not easy - it seems especially so when you really want to go. Confounding that old adage is Tim Hayes; tomorrow morning, one of the best friends I’ll ever have heads to Kuwait. From there, I cannot speak publicly of what his mission will be, but suffice it to say it involves the desert, Blackhawks, and adventure. I had wanted this mission, but I’ll concede not as badly as Tim.

He’s a brave man, and I’m proud to serve with him and all the other brave souls who willingly go into harm’s way. I don’t mean to be morbid, but Tim lives just a few houses down from a Major who was killed in Iraq since we arrived here. His kids still play with the kids of that fallen hero; and yet he stood up and gladly accepted this mission. There is an unquantifiable burning within the American who who knows he must serve and give his life if necessary - Tim is such a man, and I’m proud of him, my fellow Soldiers, and the country for which we fight.

Tim, I’ll be the “Huckleberry,” who’s got your back… I’ll be your Doc Holliday any day. Good luck and be safe, my friend.

For an interesting post check out Sunflower Desert. I know this will be controversial considering some of my dear friends heart Obama. I just think this is an interesting- yet shallow- justification for killing an infant shortly before they are born. Interesting because he is even making an attempt I suppose. The fact is most democrats that are pro-choice don’t even support this “procedure” (there I go using a politically correct term… you can tell what generation I’m a part of)… In lieu of procedure insert murder.

Look in many ways I like Obama. I love the “I have a dream” inspring hope orator part of him. But when one breaks down many of his actual beliefs I absolutely can not support him.

Someone recently said (wish I remember WHO) that you can judge a nation (or a church etc.) by the way the least among them are treated. I can not think of anyone more vulnerable than the baby that is viable in the womb practically moments from being born. Even those that hate to make a big deal out of abortion in picking a candidate should see this as a reflection of his character.

I saw a story this morning regarding an initative (in one city) to jail parents that do not vaccinate their children. I had trouble finding a domestic article on the topic though I’m sure by end of day there will be many. I found this one from BBC, but it does not cover the topic very well. Read more

Are you serious? Did anyone else catch this story on FoxNews? Apparently giving students birth control subscriptions is being considered at a Middle School in Maine. Do people really not see how far across the line this goes? Is it even healthy to give a child that young hormones?

According to the article,

The Portland School Committee will weigh the proposal Wednesday, which would enable students at King Middle School to obtain the pill.

Under the plan, King would become the first middle school in Maine to make a full range of contraception available to students in sixth through eighth grades, according to the state Department of Health and Human Services.

“This is a proposal we have been working on for six months,” Douglas S. Gardner, the director of Portland’s health and human services department, said in a statement. “It came about from kids self reporting that they were sexually active.

“Clearly they are too young to be engaged in sexual intercourse, but the reality is that they are sexually active,” he said. “It is our responsibility to offer a full range of primary care services to students. Fortunately it’s a small number.”

Did I miss something? Talk to me parents of children older than mine, when did one of the school’s primary functions become offering primary care? Sounds like socialized medicine to me. The article goes on to say,

“This is a service that is totally needed,” Rowe said. “It’s about very few kids, but they are kids who don’t have the same opportunities and access as other students.”

King’s health center, which opened in 2000, already provides condoms as part of its reproductive health program. Prescription birth control, such as pills or patches, would be prescribed after a physical examination by a physician or nurse practitioner, said Lisa Belanger, who oversees Portland’s student health centers.

What comes next? When will the schools begin providing abortions too? After all, I am sure they think the school has a responsibility to make sure young girls are not having babies because it increases their chances of dropping out. Truthfully, I’m sick of this progression. Someone stop the insanity- please?

It’s September 11th, Six years later. I’ll never ever forget that day, but who of us will? I sat at home getting ready for a coffee date with my friend as I heard of the first plane hitting. My first thought went to terrorism, but I quickly pushed it down telling myself stuff like that just doesn’t happen in the U.S.

As I drove to Starbucks even the music stations had turned to talk. Everyone was in shock and afraid to discuss the possibility that we were attacked by terrorists. As I walked in to Starbucks they had pulled a T.V. out and I saw it, the second plane hit. It was too much. At that point we all knew. Terrorism. That kind of accident doesn’t happen twice. I can’t remember at what point the flight crashed in PA, or the Pentagon. It gets blurred for me. All I remember is the feeling. The loss. The fear wondering if the crashes were finished or if more would come about.

A business trip of mine had been cancelled the day before. I had a show with Stacy Orrico, who was a client at the time, out of state. She got sick last minute and I literally chased my bags form getting on the plane. I would have been stuck away from those I love for a week. Of course that would have been a small grievance compared to those whose loved ones were not coming home.

Here we are 6 years later. And some are adopting the point of view that it this attack came from our own government. An excuse to go to war. I can not tell you how much that upsets me. Even a dear friend from abroad is convinced that this is not only true, but the truth will come out in the coming years. I’ll take on that bet. He couldn’t be more wrong.

In the midst of this terrorism denial, we have another tape released by UBL this week. This one features on of the 911 hijackers tributes to another hijacker (from what I can tell.) Of course, I suppose this person is just held up in the basement of the pentagon and we forced this testimony.

JJ and I took a virtually empty plane to ground zero with in that month. I have a feeling that I will never be able to accurately put into the words what it was like to stand there. In the middle of the hustle and bustle that is NYC. This place stood in complete silence. People didn’t talk, they just stared. Gazes expressed intence disbelieve, total grief. Tears fell to the sidewalk as people read the signs, letters and looked over the pictures left by loved ones. For us, it was important to stand there. To soak in what little we could of what happened. A memory forever etched into our brains so that we would never forget.

I’m going to leave my comments open for those that want to share. I know some of you were even living in the city at the time, some even lost loved ones that day. But out of respect to me… or just because I said so If you are going to spew any denial do not comment. I am usually open to disagreement on this format, but not on this post. Out of respect to 911 I ask you to just move on and keep browsing the internet.

If you have read mommy zabs long you are well aware how much the issue of child victimization infuriates me. Add sexual abuse into that and I could be capable of pretty awful retribution if I got a hold of the abuser.

I’m happy to tell you that the law has had a HUGE victory (that is growing larger by the day) in catching this world full of sickos.

LONDON — British police, with aid from U.S. investigators, have shattered a global Internet pedophile ring, rescuing 31 children and rounding up more than 700 suspects worldwide, authorities said Monday.

Some 200 suspects are based in Britain, said the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Center, a government agency. Of the 31 children, some only a few months old, more than 15 were in Britain, the center said.

British authorities would not break down where the other suspects or children came from. A Canadian official said 24 Canadians were arrested and seven children rescued, but added that the time period was longer than the more than 10 months the British said their portion of the investigation lasted. U.S. officials declined to comment because their investigation is continuing.

The ring was traced to an Internet chat room called “Kids the Light of Our Lives” that featured images of children being subjected to horrific sexual abuse — including streaming live videos.

Authorities said they used surveillance tactics normally used against terrorism suspects and drug traffickers to infiltrate the pedophile ring at its highest level.

People are capable of every type of evil- aren’t they? How can I read this and believe that people are “basically good”.

Once a very sweet girl I know objected to a bulletin I posted on myspace about John Cuey (the monster that victimized and buried Jessica Lunsford alive). She told me I was demonizing him. She addressed me kindly, acknowledging that she did not know what it is like to have children, let alone going through that, but that we should consider the offenders’ background.

Granted, this animal had a tragic upbringing. But our pasts DO NOT DETERMINE US, they INFLUENCE us. I know many who have horrible stories in their upbringing that do not commit such heinous acts. It is an INCREDIBLE flaw to exempt anyone of full responsibility and consequences because they have endured hardship. All that does is cause the cycle to continue and more to be victimized.

The article I had posted a bulletin on was almost purely the monster in his own words. So if anyone demonized anyone, it was himself. Anything appearing demonic in that post was purely because it WAS demonic. Satan surely had his way with this man, and he let him.

Officials also said the United States, Canada and Australia were Britain’s main partners in the investigation, which involved agencies from 35 countries.

Investigators with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said they could not immediately comment on the arrests because the U.S. investigation, spanning at least 12 states, is ongoing.

Toronto police conducted online surveillance along with British police, said Detective Sgt. Kim Scanlan of the Toronto police sex crimes unit. She said 24 Canadians were arrested and seven Canadian children rescued since late 2005.

“Every arrest we make we seize computers and information so there are a number of ongoing investigations,” Scanlan said. “There’s just been great cooperation. It’s a good day, but it’s one day out of many.”

With all the talk in the media about how much we don’t supposedly cooperate with other countries… this is something that should be shouted from the rooftops. 35 COUNTRIES WORKED TOGETHER FOR OUR CHILDREN! The most amazing things are possible with unity.

The host of the chat room, Timothy David Martyn Cox, 27, of Buxhall, who used the online identity “Son of God,” admitted to nine counts of possessing and distributing indecent images, authorities said.

Cox was given an indeterminate jail sentence Monday at a court in eastern England. That means he will remain in prison until authorities determine he is no longer a threat to children.

“Today’s verdict serves as a powerful warning to those using the Internet to facilitate the sexual exploitation of children,” said Jim Gamble, the child protection center’s chief executive.

Cox was identified after intelligence linking the chat room to Britain was passed on to the child protection center by Canadian authorities in August 2006. The center is an agency under the purview of the Home Office that is made up of officers with special experience in tracking and prosecuting sex offenders.

After Cox’s arrest on Sept. 28, 2006, British, Canadian and Australian authorities were able to infiltrate the chat room and collect evidence on the other members. Officers posed as contributors and even pretended to be Cox, running the chat room for 10 days.

At no point did officers distribute illegal images.

Forensic teams examining Cox’s computer found 75,960 indecent and explicit images in addition to evidence that he had supplied 11,491 images to other site users.

A man described as Cox’s lieutenant, Gordon Mackintosh, tried to resurrect the chat room in January. Authorities in Britain, Canada, Australia and the U.S. again infiltrated the operation.

Upon Mackintosh’s arrest in January, authorities assumed his identity online and ran the chat room for three days while collecting information on offenders who traded images.

Mackintosh, 33, has pleaded guilty to 27 charges of making, possessing and distributing indecent images and videos. He is awaiting sentencing.

Would anyone else like a sick bag? I want to puke when I hear this disgusting Cox fellow used the name Son of God. Could you imagine judgment day for him?

I have been keeping my lips shut on an issue burning inside of me. Normally when injustice boils my blood I can do nothing but shout it from the proverbial rooftops. But this… this has been so hard to digest.

I’m not sure why I have been clueless. After I learned of it, I brought it up on seperate occasions to both my father and brother and they both knew about it. I can not fathom why this isn’t on MSM (main stream media) and why there isn’t total OUTCRY about it! Please Media don’t tell me for the one MILLIONTH time what Paris Hilton is up to and not report what may possibly be one of the biggest human rights violations of our time!

It isn’t bad enough that China forces abortions on women about to give birth. And repetitively commits religious persecution by imprisoning people for their faith. But what do they do with these prisoners???

This has been on my mind for awhile now, unable to imagine the depths of depravity one must be in to be able to kill a person, even 5 people at times, for the possibility of finding 1 kidney for well funded person.

Of course, China denies this. Hard proof of the practice is difficult to find, but I have been reading incredible research on the topic and believe there is more than enough convincing evidence This Report on Organ Harvesting takes an investment of time to read… but if this issue breaks your heart the way it has mine you need to schedule the time and read it.

I have not been able to figure out how to sum up my thoughts on the process, or how to appropriately compile talking points from the report… I have not attempted discussing it on Mommyzabs previously. I wanted to do this topic justice. But all I can do now is pray and beg people to listen, even if my writing can appropriately reflect the urgency. My influence in this world is completely minute. However, I’m compelled to do whatever I can.

I’m not typically a boycotter. Mostly because Christians seem to take boycotting to a ridiculous extreme. It takes A LOT to make me boycott. I’m just not sure I can give another penny to support China knowingly. The more I talk to others, the more insight I gain… the more I have to speak with my money. Sometimes it is the only language people listen too.

My Boycott won’t be able to be 100%. Sometimes it just is not feasible (like when my child gets a McD’s kids meal with his friends and there is a made in China toy with it, It is hard to tell a 3 year old they can’t have it when all their kids have their kids meal toys at the table…) But I have already begun looking at labels on everything and staying away from China.

On that tangent… since boycotting China makes it quite difficult to buy toys for your children, I found a helpful link for finding products (including toys and toy brands) that are not made in China.

TORONTO — Foreign patients who travel to China for transplants are likely receiving organs culled from political prisoners who are alive when their corneas, kidneys and livers are harvested, then left to die, an international group of doctors armed with a chilling Canadian report is warning.

In a new twist on an old practice of using organs from executed criminals, China has since 2000 turned to living donors and outlawed Falun Gong members to supply a growing trade in medical transplants, Doctors Against Organ Harvesting said Thursday during a public forum held at the University of Toronto.

With increasing numbers of Canadians on long waiting lists turning to China to save their own lives, the newly formed organization is seeking to warn patients that someone else’s life is likely being sacrificed in the process of obtaining organs.

“Each person who travels to China for an organ causes the death of another human,” said Dr. Torsten Trey, a Washington, D.C.-based physician and founding member of Doctors Against Organ Harvesting.

The group is sounding the alarm in the medical community about mounting evidence of unethical transplants in China. They want doctors to impress the information upon their patients. They want hospitals and universities to close their doors to visiting Chinese physicians and scholars looking to hone their techniques. And they want medical journals to reject research on transplants conducted in China.

“Medical science cannot build up any knowledge which is based on inhuman and unethical procedures,” said Trey, who compared China’s pilfering of organs from Falun Gong practitioners to Nazi medical experimentation during the Holocaust.

Doctors Against Organ Harvesting was formed in the wake of a Canadian investigation first released last year.

Authored by former Liberal MP David Kilgour and Winnipeg human rights lawyer David Matas, the report claims there is a widespread and systematic policy in China of selling organs from living donors to a growing clientele of desperate patients.

Kilgour said Thursday it is clear Falun Gong members are being targeted over other ethnic groups and religions, as a part of a campaign to villainize their spiritual practice since it fell out of favour with the government in 2000.

The report’s conclusions were drawn from interviews with a handful of eyewitnesses from the medical side, recipients of organs harvested in China, official government pronouncements, statistics showing a sudden explosion in the number of transplants performed, marketing Web sites and undercover inquiries to hospital.

In one instance, an Asian patient recounted that after rifling through a list of potential donors, a military doctor departed and returned to the hospital several times, bringing back a total of eight different kidneys before finally settling on a match.

In another, a sick patient found out one day he needed a transplant and had an organ within 24 hours.

Web sites market transplants in China in five different languages and in some cases guarantee availability of a matching organ within two weeks. The average wait time for a kidney in Canada is 32.5 months, while in British Columbia it is 52.5 months.

In surreptitious phone calls to Chinese transplant hospitals by Mandarin-speaking investigators, medical staff admitted organs came from Falun Gong prisoners.

While he is sympathetic to the plight of ailing Canadians who wait years for a transplant and face the prospect of dying before a match comes along, Kilgour said patients and doctors cannot turn a blind eye.

“Medicine cannot be practised by killing innocent people like chickens,” he said.

Gerry Koffman, a Toronto general practitioner and member of Doctors Against Organ Harvesting, said there are about 100 confirmed cases of Canadian patients from Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver having transplants done in China.

I wrote the author of the China View Blog a couple times to gain further perspective on what we can do. He is busy but has been very helpful. His 2 pieces of advice on what to do were the following:

A. as an individual, for our safety reason, buy as less Chinese products as we can. The bottom line is do not make our own life difficult, if the Chinese product is the only choice.

B. Urge/push the government/trade companies take action to boycott
until the situation is changed. Government action is the most effective way,
because for business companies profit is always their first choice and
they seldom really care about human rights.

To make it happen, we need to raise awareness and educate the officals,
NGOs, trade companies,etc, by make appointment/writing letter/email/fax,
and also the most important thing we are doing now, blogging.

I would like to add… If boycotting China gained enough buzz… like THE ONE campaign has, I do think it could be possible to effect the commerce world. If awareness was raised to the point that people were boycotting en masse and deciding to live with less in order to come against China’s human rights violations, some businesses would take the hint.

You may think, “this republican has fallen off her rocker” But realize that I serve Jesus Christ before any political party. And though Republicans have more the reputation of ruthless capitalists, and though I do believe capitalism is the less of evils in economic systems, ethics are not to be forsaken. We must always respect human life because God created it. Innocents must always be protected. Always.

PLEASE bookmark the China View Blog and stay up to date on the CONSTANT human rights violations by the Chinese government. We as a nation have got to stop turning a blind eye toward what they are doing.
