1..2..3..4..5..

Trying to count to ten and keep my cool…6..7.. but internal pressure is mounting and I’m about to explode.  I’m not going to get into a huge political post because I can’t really do that here anymore…8… but seriously, let me just say…9..  I am so unhappy with where this country is going, where it is being led.  Argh.  I wish I could vent here. …10…

Just some news links:

Obama won’t be more active in helping freedom reign in Iran.

ABC turns their programming over to Obama so he can pitch socialized healthcare- with no time being released for the other argument. nice.

More Rediculous projects in the stimulas.

This is not even close to an exhaustive list of my woes.

We will have a lot to answer to our children and granchildren about.

Cuban US Embassy

These are incredibly difficult pictures to take, so they are not the best quality or easiest to see. What you are looking at, (believe it or not) are pictures of the US embassy in Cuba. The Mass of white poles are holding black flags, which are a successful attempt to block out any pro-freedom, pro-democracy phrases left in the windows. They can not tear the embassy down because our country owns it. This confused me a little until Linda Lyons (meridith’s mom) explained to me that would be considered and act of war.

They keep the cuban military guarding it at all times and it is forbidden to take pictures. Obviously my husband and brother-in-law broke that law. The pictures in particular were taken shortly before they were chased by these guards. Fortunately for my sister-in-law and I, they out were able to outrun Cuban military.

More images to come in doses. I’ll balance showing pictures of the beautiful sweet people of Cuba with the scary propoganda, and random intersting images of their transportation. Stay tuned!

UPDATE-
The US embassy was taken care of by the swiss in 1961 until President Carter sent US staff there in 1977. It is called the “Us Interest Section”. very interesting. Because they are occupying it they are able to display pro-democracy sayings. We found out from wikipedia that the flags pictured actually cover up a pro-democracy digital billboard. The flags are called “Mount of Flags”, and are stationed in “Anti-imperialist Park”. Wikipedia refers to this as a propaganda battle between the US and Cuba. Interesting.

Cuba & Cambodia.

My brother who is pastor at the Central Vinyard is currently over in Cambodia with my cousin Jordan. His church is very active in a ministry called Asia’s Hope. They have several ophanages over there saving many children out of sex slavery, poverty, abuse, etc. Their blogs are pretty eye opening. Please read the links below and pray for them when you think of it.

Jeff’s Blog (my brother).
Jordan’s Blog (my cousin).

Also one of the spearheads of Asia’s hope, John McCollum is over there. He is an incredible writer and is most familiar with the area and what is going on over there. His Asia’s Hope blog can be found here.

Next Tuesday Jeff (this time my husband Jeff) is leaving with his father, mother and his sister’s husband to Cuba.

Yes… Cuba.

Several years ago Cuba started allowing a limited amount of people to come in to build protestant churches. My Father-in-Law headed up a ministry for years through the ‘AG’ called MAPS where he went over to Cuba (among other places) to oversee the building of churches. For those over there that had come to know Jesus Christ as their Savior this was (and still is) a dream come true. A building to meet freely in!

For years Jeff and Tim (brother-in-law) have talked about going over there with their father, and now it is finally happening! They have been hoping to get there before Fidel Castro passed away since what exactly will be allowed after that remains in question.

During my father-in-law’s many trips to Cuba he has really fallen in love with the people (not Castro of course!) These people live like you have gone back in time. Communist/Socialist (it says both in their constituation), government has made them incredibly deprived - Need I say for the gazzilionth time-”another reason I am adamently against big governement and socialism”- or are you all sick of that? They are physically and spritiually hungry. Jeff leaves on Tuesday for 8 days (while i will be taking off to hang in Nashville!). Please keep him and his family in your prayers… He isn’t really a blogger so I will have to update you here if I am able to hear from him at all (communication from there is very difficult!).

Well. The boys are finally doing much better! No…

Well. The boys are finally doing much better! Not 100%, but much better.

AND WE GOT SUCH A GREAT SURPRISE TODAY! Jeff’s parents showed up at our doorstep, surprising us shortly after 2pm. Such an answer to prayer. I have been craving family and feeling lonely. I’m so used to being out and about with the boys that all 3 of us have been going stir crazy. Having them here is like a breath of fresh air. Time loosened up in their schedule and they were only 4 hours away so they decided this morning to come and stay till Wednesday.

I am not sure if you have paid attention to the news of the tragic health care at Walter Reed Medical Center for Veterines/ Military. If not please click HERE. *They are saying* that the more they look into it, they are finding most of these types of hospitals are providing horrible care and further investigations are neccesary.

FRIENDS! This is a foreshadow… pay close attention! This is what government taking over health care looks like. Is this really what you want? I know that insurance is insane and medical cost astronomical. But if we go to socialized health care I predict this is exactly what health care will look like for everyone.

There has to be another solution. I’m not the genius to figure it out. But their has to be one. This is one of the trillion reasons I am for small/limited government. Not because I don’t like poor people, or am rich, greedy and so on (the reasons many of us get demonized for.) I do care, it does break my heart to think of anyone not getting the care that they needs it. But I do not think the government taking things over is an effective answer to anything. Look at the disaster FEMA turned into. We have to think of effective long term solutions… not solutions that simply solve the short term only to evolve into a much greater problem for our children and their children’s children in the long run.
